Kanye’s new 808’s and Heartbreak album debut at number one on The Billboard 200 this week which is pretty damn good for an album he just decided to do at the last minute. Billboard.com kinda makes it seem like its a bad thing due to the fact that its his lowest debut, but when you think about the risk involved its not bad at all..

Kanye West earns his third straight No. 1 on The Billboard 200 as “808s & Heartbreak” bows in the top slot. The Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam set moved 450,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, the artist’s lowest debut sales frame since his first album, “The College Dropout,” bowed with 441,000 in 2004.

His last release, “Graduation,” began with 957,000 at No. 1 last year, while sophomore set “Late Registration” checked in with 860,000 at No. 1 in 2005.

I must admit that the project as a whole took some warming up to but after careful deliberation I must say that it’s pretty hot. So the homie’s over @ Imeem.com hooked up with the homie’s U-N-I for Chapter 1 in their Keys 2 the City LA series. They caught up with U-N-I while they were playing a game of 21 (I didn’t know ya’ll boys hooped! lol). They briefly discuss topics ranging from the LA scene to how the reception has been for them. The more and more I hear about this movie the more I want to see it. As of right now, this looks like it could possibly be my favorite movie of the year. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button is the story of a man that ages backwards. Directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, Panic Room).

Is it me or is this 1 song a day gimmick getting a little out of hand? It was creative the first couple of times but it seems like EVERYONE is coming out with a series. If it’s not 1 song for every day in a month it’s a mixtape for every month. How about drop one hot record in a year? How about make one dope album a year? I honestly wouldn’t mind it if these songs were incredible cause that would be saying something, but it’s just adding to the overproduced genre that used to be called hip hop.
