I’m sure many people thought it has been weird that Timbaland hasn’t appeared on the last couple of Jay Z records considering their history together. So what better way for Jay Z to make up for Timbaland’s absence than by having him produce his next album in its entirety. As of now, everything is in its early phase and this project may not come to fruition as planned. But, if it does happen, it might just be incredible! I think the best part about this project is that Jay Z & Timbaland are both in places in their careers where they don’t have to prove anything. Its all about the music. Here’s an excerpt from MTV.com:
Jay Z has at least one super-producer onboard for his next LP, and according to said super-producer, that’s all Hova needs.
“He wants me to do the whole thing this time around,” Timbaland said Monday during a visit to the MTV News office. “I’mma make it a classic too. You better believe it. It’ll be a monster! I always say this: You get a first single from me, I’mma get you up to gold. And it’s hard to get you up to gold in this day [and age].”
Tim insisted that an LP featuring him and Jay would sell more than the 500,000 copies needed for a gold record, as they’re both international platinum artists.
“Jay should never chill,” he said about the rapper’s decision to return to music full time. “We had a long talk, and I really talked to him. Jay-Z does it for the love. That’s different. When somebody does it for the love, you don’t stop. He has everything, but he’s still current. A million people are buying his album regardless.
“We wanna go to the world,” he added. “The world is ‘Big Pimpin’.’ ‘Big Pimpin’ ‘ is an international hit, so we wanna do 10 of those. Meaning, some of the songs gonna sound like M.I.A. would rap on some of the beats. You gonna be like, ‘Whoa!’ But it’s Jay on ‘em. That means it reaches everywhere. I’mma have songs with bagpipes. The music is gonna be so worldwide, he’ll be able to tour the rest of his life, maybe, off just this one album. The Jay-Z album is gonna be phenomenal. You know why? We don’t care. We’re doing great music just to do it. We doing it for our fans who love us to say we ain’t quit. I’m doing it ’cause that’s my homeboy.”

In case you haven’t heard about the news, Erykah Badu and Jay Electronica are about to have a baby together. And you and I both know there has been quite a bit of gossip and talk around this issue due to the fact that she’s had relationships with a few hip hop artists such as Common, M1 of Dead Prez, and Andre 3000 whom she had a son named Seven with. In any case, check it out.
After news of her pregnancy by her artist Jay Electronica hit Okayplayer, opinions were mixed. However, after one too many posters commented on Erykah’s growing count of baby’s fathers, the singer pulled no punches during her response.
“HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT THE QUEENDOM…AND MY CHILDREN AND MY INTELLIGENCE.ive[sic] never been so disgusted in all of my life,” she began.
What followed could read like a diary of Badu’s innermost thoughts on raising children, society, and well as the joy she’s gone through in the process.
“I PUT MUCH TIME AND THOUGHT INTO HAVING AND RAISING MY CHILDREN.IVE HAD THE HONORS OF HAVING 2 HOME BIRTHS AND 2 WONDERFUL PARTNERS BY MY SIDE.every relationship i have been in was because i loved the person DEARLY and was dedicated to us “exclusively” FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS.the fathers of my children are my brothers and friends .we have a great deal of respect for one another and always will.WE LOVE OUR CHILDREN TO NO END.we took our own “vows” and CONTINUE TO UPHOLD THEM.AND THAT IS WHAT THAT IS .question?WHAT IS MARRIAGE ?WHO IS THE JUDGE?”
Badu later stood up for both of her children and their fathers saying: “MY CHILDREN WILL BE LEADERS and they will not ever be slaves to this society’s failing idea of morality.THEY OWN THEIR MINDS AND THEIR DREAMS.BIRTH CONTROL lol … could have 10 babies instead of 2 .I LOVE CHILDREN AND I WILL HAVE AS MANY AS GOD WILL GIVE ME .I AM VERY HEALTHY AND RESPONSIBLE AND SO ARE ALL OF MY PARTNERS I CHOSE THEM WISELY AND SOBERLY .ALL GOOD BROTHERS.”
And even though the artist is “sensitive about my shit,” she’s not worried about losing a fan when family is concerned.

Following the success of Lil’ Wayne’s newest release ‘The Carter 3′, the music industry gets another winner with the release of Coldplay’s latest ‘Viva La Vida or Death and all His Friends’. All of these spurts in sells show that fans still support an artist when the music is good. So props to Coldplay for these MONSTER numbers and when you come to my city, I’ll be sure to be in attendance. Here’s the details from Billboard.com:
As expected, Coldplay tops The Billboard 200 with “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends,” which shifted a whopping 721,000 first-week U.S. copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The Capitol effort sold nearly as many copies as the band’s other chart-topper, 2005’s “X&Y,” which moved 737,000. Only one other rock band has had a 700,000-plus week since the release of that effort. Last November, the Eagles’ “Long Road Out of Eden” began at No. 1 with 711,000.
With the million-plus debut of Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” last week, this marks only the second time the chart has seen back-to-back debuts of more than 700,000 since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. The first time it happened was way back in the summer of 2000, when Britney Spears’ “Oops! I Did It Again” (1,319,000) was followed by Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP” (1,760,000).
Forty percent of “Viva La Vida” sales, 288,000 copies, were digital downloads, making it the biggest sales frame ever registered for a digital album. It surpasses the previous record, set earlier this year when Jack Johnson’s “Sleep Through the Static” (139,000).
With a 69% sales decrease, “Tha Carter III” (Cash Money/Universal) slips 1-2 with 309,000 units.

For those that don’t know, Kanye West was scheduled to perform at this years Bonnaroo festival. Bonnaroo is a four-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee and it’s acts range from hip hop to alternative rock. Kanye West was scheduled to hit the stage for his Glow In The Dark set at 2:45 AM which was already pretty late but actually didn’t end up going on until 4:25AM! Check out the video of him performing his hit song Can’t Tell Me Nothin and listen to the audience.
Kanye has been receiving a lot of negativity because of this whole Bonnaroo incident so he decided to address the situation in the classic Kanye West form…RANT!

WORD: D’Angelo Gets Busy on J Records Debut

Finally some news that I’ve been waiting for, D’Angelo is on his way back. OFFICIALLY! I’m interested in hearing what kinda sound he’s on now since he’s been gone so long, or if the drugs has had any affect on his genius. I’m sure it will be classic D’Angelo, but what I do hope is that it’ll be progressive D’Angelo because its been a pretty long damn time. Here’s some details from Billboard.com:

R&B star D’Angelo is making progress on his first studio album since 2000, which will likely be released early next year via J Records. The label purchased D’Angelo’s contract in 2005 from Virgin, which issued his first two studio albums.
For his as-yet-untitled J debut, D’Angelo has already collaborated with Raphael Saadiq and also plans to record with John Mayer, according to a source. A single may be out before the end of the year.
D’Angelo has largely fallen off the musical map since 2000’s “Voodoo,” which has sold 1.69 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Its single “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” hit No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart and No. 25 on the Hot 100.
In recent years, the artist has endured a serious car accident and drug-related arrests. In lieu of new music of his own, he’s made sporadic guest appearances on albums by Common, Snoop Dogg and J Dilla.
