Kid Cudi has released the production credits for his upcoming major label debut “Man on the Moon: End of Time”, and surprisingly, Kanye West has only contributed two tracks. In my personal opinion, this move by Kanye (or rather Cudi?), is going to make it very hard for critics to deny Cudi’s talent as a solo artist apart from Kanye West. Although, I’m not sure how many people even question Cudi’s talent. Its obviously there, its simply a question of whether you like him or not. If so, this post is for you. *points*

Hello all, its been awhile but lets revvv this engine back on up. This video goes behind the scenes of Kid Cudi’s recent shoot with URB Magazine (one of the few mainstream magazines that still support up and coming artists/scenes). For the concept, Cudi came up with the idea of taking various shots at the many jobs he worked before stardom. Naturally, none of the places gave him permission, so the entire photoshoot was done gorilla style. He also talk about what it was like working at those places and how life was in general prior to becoming Hip Hop’s new IT boy. Pretty cool watch, ya’ll check it out..!

So apparently Beck has taken on the creative challenge of covering an entire album in only 24 hours (right?). And the first result of that experience is in the form of this Velvet Underground cover entitled “Sunday Morning?” The footage is taken from the actual studio session for the track and from the sound of it, this project may provide some real quality music! Here’s what “Bek” had to say about the project:

Record Club

We’ve been working on changes to the website for the last few months. We’ll be adding new sections as they’re ready. The first one to be added is called Record Club, an informal meeting of various people to record an album in a day. An album will be chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track will be uploaded once a week on beck.com as well as through the web sites of those involved with the project.

For this first edition, after lengthy deliberation and coming close to covering Digital Underground’s Sex Packets, all present voted in favor of the ‘other’ Underground’s The Velvet Underground & Nico. Participants included this time around are Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker, Brian Lebarton, Bram Inscore, Yo, Giovanni Ribisi, Chris Holmes, and from Iceland, special guest Thorunn Magnusdottir, and myself. Thanks to everyone who helped put this together, and to all of you for indulging in this experiment. More soon.

Exacto

Hit Boy & Chase N. Cashe make up a small percent of a group of musicians called Surf Club which is under Polow Da Don’s Zone 4 Ent. These dudes are monsters when it comes to making records. Here’s a video of them in the studio doing what they do best…

Exactly.

Spotted this over @ H.E.R.’s spot. From the looks of it, this was the video shoot to be at. Afterall, almost everybody was in attendance; Clipse, Kanye West, Kaws, Curtains, Kid Cudi, Ibn Jasper just to name a few. It looked as though everyone was having a good time behind the scenes for the video, which I’m excited for. I don’t expect the video to be visually incredible or anything, but I’m definitely a Clipse fan and I’m interested to see how their next project is going to sound. Give it a looksee!

One thing I love seeing is when artists are in their creative zone without all of the Hollywood bullshit surrounding them. Here’s some footage of Justin Timberlake and Polow Da Don in the studio doing what they do best…music!

Exactly.

Since we’re in the Kanye mood today figured we might as well show you the footage that Kanye released on his blog of his new video for Amazing feat. Young Jeezy. I can’t wait to see the final finished product but honestly I’ve been hearing a lot about that See You In My Nightmares video featuring Lil Wayne. Check it out tho!

Exactly.

The other new Good Music signee ‘Big Sean’ spit this freestyle backstage at SXSW this past weekend. I admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of Big Sean when I first heard him and honestly, I’m not a super fan of his now. But, what I will say is that the more I hear him, I get to actually hear “him” and with that said, he’s growing on me as an artist. I’ve yet to hear anything incredible yet, but ‘Supa Dupa’ is pretty close. Check out this dope freestyle, and Big Sean, if you’re reading this…keep it coming..

I firmly believe that talent recognizes talent and as much flack as Diddy gets for being who he is, one thing you can’t argue is that he recognizes talent. No matter what, he has this knack for gathering the most unexpected artists for collaborations. And its always makes you anticipate the result. This time, he has the MAN Jay Electronica! And I assure you, NOTHING BUT GOOD CAN COME FROM THIS! Diddy’s album is definitely one of my top 5 most anticipated releases of 2009!

Exactly

I’m sure I will catch some flack for saying this, but Soulja Boy is one of the best artists out right now, hands down. He created a song all by himself at home and made $10 mil from it. I know many people hate because they have this preconceived notion of what “real HIP HOP” is but that’s all bullocks. Soulja Boy is younger than most of ya’ll and “makes it look easy”. And trust me, its not.. Anywho, check out the video and enjoy the crazy freestyle in the middle.
