For this particular Old School Tuesday I felt it was only fitting to put up a classic Pete Rock & C.L Smooth joint because of the Pete Rock vs. Primo battle that’s going down at Crash Mansion on Friday. Now the obvious video would have been T.R.O.Y, but I didn’t want to neglect the other classics they came with such as this one.

Exactly.

I still have the cassette single of this, back when Blockbuster Music and Warehouse was the place to be. Old school classic Battlecat!

Exactly.

With the dissipation of the hip hop nation, my concentration is on the foundation in order to gain inspiration so I can help maintain and uplift the new generation. Keepin’ it exotic like Haitian Asians that only listen to Cali Agents! *clears throat*

Sorry, I had to get my Keith Murray on.

Exactly.

If it don’t bump bump in the club…..

Exactly.

Bobby Valentino’s old group, remember this joint?

Exactly.

Hmmm ain’t this some shit?

Exactly.

Makes you wanna do the running man don’t it?

Exactly.

I know, I know, this isn’t really an Old School joint, but its definitely a throwback and I figured since Erykah’s new album “New Amerykah Part One” is releasing today (Go out and buy it, support good music!), I felt it was only right to take it back to where it all started. Full circle.

Exactly!

I tried to get the actual video for Full Force’s Ain’t My Type Of Hype, but SonyBMG wouldn’t let me lock the embed code down. So instead I decided to throw up a classic scene from a classic movie. The infamous dance off, Kid and Play vs. Sidney and Sharane from House Party.

Exactly.

Incredible group, incredible song, incredible video. Daft Punk’s video for ‘Around The World’, directed by Michel Gondry, is probably one of the flyest videos I have ever seen. Period.

p.s. - To all new jacks that might not have caught the concept of the video. The different groups of dancers in the video represent the different sounds in the beat.

p.s.s - Make sure you check out that new Jack Black and Mos Def flick, Be Kind Rewind, directed by Mr. Gondry as well.

Exactly.
