FRESH: Iphone’s “Talk N Walk” App

Now, however fresh I find this application, I can’t advocate the creation of an app that assists in furthering people’s addiction to cell phones. Either way, it would be beneath me to deny how dope this is. Iphone consistently drops fun, cool, highly interactive apps that push cell technology forward. If you ask me, the powers that be are just feeding us technology they discovered years ago at a slow rate. It keeps up consumerist interests, and keeps us behind the curve. That’s ANOTHER topic though. Enjoy!

I am a fan of quirky animated shorts and this was a must post for me. Spotted this over at the founder of STH Lateef Garrett’s TUMBLR page. Apparently doing drugs while playing baseball back in the 70’s was a huge thing….news to me. Pretty hilarious though..

I don’t even UNDERSTAND the technology behind this, its mind-blowing really. Created by James Dyson, the name of it is the Dyson Air Multiplier. Its funny how new inventions always have those “lets name it after exactly what it does” names. If this truly is the future of the house fan, will it eventually replace the original house fan and become the new definition of what a house fan is? I’m sure time will sort all of that out. The simple explanation of what it does states; “There’s a motor in the bottom that powers a turbo-charged impeller. It’s essentially a 3-D fan that gives a good combination of flow and pressure.” For a more detailed description, James Dyson goes in depth HERE!

FRESH: We Once Were A Fairytale x Through The Wire (Book Preview)

*UPDATE: Looks like the video has been taken down across the internet, my guess is that it has to do with a deal between Kanye West/Spike Jonze & iTunes. Apparently the short film was supposed to premiere on iTunes. Or maybe not…

The always inventive Kanye West has finally released the much talked about short film collaboration with director of the moment Spike Jonze (Where The Wild Things Are)! The film starts off simple enough with Mr. West partying with friends when complimentary bottles of champagne are sent to his table. Noticeably drunk, Kanye insists on paying for the champagne despite the waitresses’ refusal to accept compensation (it’s on the house!). From there Kanye leads us on a drunken romp through the club having various uncomfortably rude encounters with other partygoers before finding himself in the back store room. From this point everything begins to get a little crazy, but I won’t spoil the fun for you all. Check it out, its odd, but pretty cool at the same time!
If the short film wasn’t enough, Kanye West also has another book releasing, this time collaborating with illustrator Bill Plympton entitled “Through The Wire.” Here’s a brief description:
Through the Wire is a graphic memoir that illustrates the lyrics of twelve Kanye West songs to tell his story, from his decision to drop out of college to pursue his dreams in music, through his days spent folding chinos at the Gap while struggling at night to make a name as a producer, through the pivotal car accident that eventually set him on the course to stardom and the epiphany of realizing exactly who he had become.

When it comes to incredible drummers the cliche name to say would be ?uestlove, and people will swear by him to be the illest. Don’t get me wrong, all respect due to ?uest…but have you heard of Tony Royster Jr? He was incredible at 12 so its safe to say he’s a beast now. Here’s some footage of him playing Chick Corea’s “Spain” with a church band.
….not to mention he’s Hov’s drummer.

Since we’re somewhat on the subject of Where The Wild Things Are, I thought I’d give everyone a heads up on the new Pop-Up Store. During a visit to Urban Outfitters at Space Twenty 15 I actually walked in on this last week before it was completed. I remember wondering if I was entering the right entrance, or some side door that lead into the back stock room that was left unattended. Anywho, it was dope to see what would eventually lead up to being what you all will see in these pictures (tongue twister?). Everyone thats in the Los Angeles area can go down and check out the Where The Wild Things Pop-Up store at Space Twenty 15 before they tear it all down. There are many things to buy, including WTWTA costumes, tee’s by Geoff McFetridge, books, drawings and more! A definite spot to hit, check out some pictures below.

This video is LONG OVERDUE! I’ve been waiting for Pac Div to drop it since the actual video shoot. Shot by Carey Williams, the video is a throwback to classic Hip Hop videos, no overly exuberant, flashy or faux lifestyles, just raw rap. I was expecting this to drop before the “Mayor” video, but either way, good music is getting out and thats ultimately what its all about.
