The one man musical machine is back with his latest opus, Sketches of a Man. In preparation for its release, Dwele made an EPK. For those that don’t know what an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) is, its basically a form of media promotion for an artist. In this case, a video with some info on the making of Dwele’s new album. He also talks about his studio session with Kanye for Flashing Lights, pretty interesting. Anyway, give it a look.

FANFARE: Happy Birthday Solange!

Last night Solange celebrated her 22nd birthday up in the infamous Hollywood Hills and although it was a star studded event, it was far from “hollywood”. Hosted by her big sister Beyonce with DJ Samantha Ronson on the decks and Star Trek’s newest sensation Chester French setting up for their performance, I must admit most of my time was spent next to the chef who had prepared a wonderful meal involving brisket, salmon, bbq chicken, greens, macaroni & cheese, salad and cornbread (by the way, the bbq chicken was slamming). There was an open bar with tons of alcohol, including champaign…yet they weren’t able to make me a Long Island Iced T, so I tried to keep it calm and settled for a Bay Breeze. Solange looked as radiant as she should have and got DOWN on the dance floor during the Soul Train line portion of the party. I managed to slide down the line doing my signature worm and I even enjoyed a nice booty bump with her big sister at the end. In any case, I wish you all could have been there and Happy 22nd to Solange!

Happy Birthday shout out to Big Mibbs of Pac Div! Last night he celebrated his 24th birthday at El Cholo Mexican Restaurant in Los Angeles. Naturally, he was seated at the head of the table with about thirty of his closest friends. There were chicken fajitas, margaritas, senoritas, heartfelt toasts and of course grown man sandals otherwise known as “mandals”.

Yesterday I posted a video clip of Kanye’s performance at the Casio G-Shock 25th Anniversary, and now, here are some pictures of the set. Can’t go too wrong with topless ladynauts eh?

On Wednesday, New York was the setting for the American celebrations of Casio G-Shock’s 25th anniversary. Among the headliners were the likes of Spike Lee and Kanye West as he ripped the roof off the place with a crazy performance complete with topless astronauts. As part of the celebration, legendary artist Eric Haze put his creativity to work creating a special box set including watch and t-shirt.

I recently attended the release party for The Morning Benders’ debut album ‘Talking Through Tin Cans’! They treated the crowd to a rousing performance of cuts from their album. If you don’t have a copy of ‘Talking Through Tin Cans’, make sure you grab one. The album is pretty perrty dope! Anyway, above is a video of them performing their new single ‘Boarded Doors’. Radiohead has revealed the next leg of its first North American tour in three years. Kicking off with a just-announced appearance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival on Aug. 1, the trek will venture to both coasts and Canada through the end of August.
