Here’s some classic footage of Marvin Gaye rehearsing “I Want You” in his hotel room while touring Belgium in 1981.

Someone showed me this a day or so ago and it’s amazing how geniuses are slept on by the interviewers that are sitting right next to them. Richard Pryor was incredibly honest and it’s kinda hard watching this because there are only so many documented interviews with him and there are very few of them that are this real.

I came across this on RapRadar!

It’s an old 1981 broadcast of a 20/20 special they did on Hip Hop when it was first starting to hit the scene. It’s interesting how the media saw hip hop then and how they see it now…I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU WATCH THIS!

Beautiful.

Now, I might be the only one that enjoyed this tasty beverage but I truly wish they would put Surge back into production. It tasted pretty similar to Surge but it was a bit more hardcore. What made it hardcore you ask? Well, aside from its rockin can and tubular name…the taste was a bit bolder. It was one of the few drinks that you honestly made you want to skydive without a parachute and bungee jump without a harness. Oh Surge, how I miss thee.

I was out and about to day with a friend and being that we’re in the mist of the Holiday season, Christmas music is on constant rotation. To my surprise, a song happens to play that I haven’t heard in such a long time I had completely forgotten about it. It brought back a ton of memories for me that I expected my friend to somewhat share. When I asked my friend if he remembered the California Raisins, he said he’s never heard this song in his life! So I had to post this as a CLASSIC, and maybe it will jog his memory, or at the very least partake in a piece of my Christmas experience, ha. I know ya’ll remember this!

Probably the most respected candy in the lollipop industry, the Dum-Dum came in way more flavors than your average sucker. This sphere shaped lollipop comes in over 35 different flavors such as root beer, strawberry shortcake and butterscotch. Plus, they were the smallest of all the lollipops being sold which meant the price was much lower and they were easier sneak around whether you were in class or just trying to hide candy from your begging ass friends. Dum-Dum’s we salute you!

The video for Smashing Pumpkins single Tonight, Tonight which was the single for their hit album Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness, is probably one of my favorite videos. Directed by Johnathon Dayton and Valerie Faris.

Probably one of the most classic/slept on childhood books of all time, that or Mouse & The Motorcycle. In any case, Judy Blume was running shit back in the early 90’s. It was damn near impossible to find an elementary school that didn’t have at least 20 copies floating around in it. Before the Harry Potter books, these were IT! Tales Of The Fourth Grade Nothing is about a kid named Peter Warren Hatcher and his annoying brother Farley Drexel a.k.a Fudge. It has no real solid plot, its reads much like a Nickelodeon cartoon which is probably why it was so popular back in the day. In any case, if you have kids in elementary then you should give them this book to read. Can’t beat the classics! Real heads know the deal…

Weezer’s 1994 album, often referred to as “The Blue Album” due to the fact that it didn’t have an album title, is easily one of my favorite albums. From beginning to end, every song seems like an anthem for whatever topic the song was about. Aside from having one of the most creative videos of its time (Buddy Holly directed by Spike Jones), it was just a solid rock album. No gimmicks, just great music with concepts and lyrics millions of people could relate to on a personable level. If you haven’t heard this album or too much of anything from Weezer then I highly suggest that you start off with this album. It’s a classic!

Track List
1. My Name Is Jonas
2. No One Else
3. The World Has Turned And Left Me
4. Buddy Holly
5. Undone - The Sweater Song
6. Surf Wax America
7. Say It Ain’t So
8. In The Garage
9. Holiday
10. Only In Dreams

Video games have definitely come quite a long way since the 80’s & 90’s. Before PSP’s and Nintendo DS’s ruled the world and before the Gameboy and Game Gear became more accessible and in your price range, there were Tiger Handheld Games. They weren’t quite as detailed as the actual game it mimicked but dammit if they weren’t fun. With popular games such as Double Dragon, Mega Man 3, Simon’s Quest and Bo Jackson’s Football/Baseball, Tiger Handheld games kept millions of children entertained for hours and hours. Tiger Handheld ruled on playgrounds all around the nation with their inexpensive fun products that eventually became fashionable in comparison to the knock offs that other brands would later release in order to compete. I’m sure if you dig around in the garage at your parents house you might find one of these…they were everywhere.
