Ok, I’m gonna come right out and admit that I just downloaded Shock Value 2. First, leading up to the release I hated every song that leaked. As the release approached, the lead single “Morning After” began to grow on me, mainly due to the harmonies during the verse. Curiousity sparked, and I decided to check out the leak and see if my early assumptions resulted in the “Jay Z Effect”. Which translates into me hating every leaked song until hearing the entire project how it was meant to be heard, as an album. Or at least I hope….. Anywho, moving along, this song right here is incredible. Everyone go buy Shock Value 2, as I definitely will now that my faith in Timbaland has been reinstated.

I wanted to make one big post for three dope videos recently released by two bands I’m big fans of, and one female actress turned singer that features Beck. I love each video because each is an example of a simple idea executed in creative, fairly low budget ways. And as usual, watching these makes me yearn for a day when Hip Hop videos will start pushing the visual envelope. *sighs* Check em’ out!
Vampire Weekend - Cousins
Charlotte Gainsbourg feat. Beck - Heaven Can Wait (I love the video, although I admit I don’t see how it relates to the song itself)
Last but absolutely NOT least Coldplay - Strawberry Swing
Step it up Hip Hop…

FOCUS: If Drawings Were Photographs
Filed Under FOCUS | Leave a Comment

I came across this dope preview for a recently magazine entitled “If Drawings Were Photographs” by It’s Nice That.com. The magazine is the brainchild of designer Rob Matthews and Illustrator Tom Edwards. Rob helms the photography, while Tom does the illustrations…but the other way around. Along with a preview of the magazine, here’s a short interview with both contributors:
Hey guys, nice idea! Who came up with it? Can you give us a little summary of what the book’s all about?
Tom: Rob came up with the idea and then asked me to do the drawings. The book is essentially about trying to recreate my drawings as photographs using anything that Rob could find.
How did you both meet? Had you worked on projects before?
T: We met at University on a trip that the Graphics and Illustration courses took to New York. We hadn’t worked together before as Rob was the year above me.
Rob: But I knew Tom’s work and thought his style of illustration suited the idea perfectly. How many compositions didn’t make the book?
R: There were quite a few drawings considered that we didn’t end up using, probably around 10. All the drawings we used were taken from Tom’s sketch book, as we didn’t want him to draw them knowing they were going to be interpreted as photographs.
Are there plans to extend the project any further?
R: We’re undecided; originally we liked the idea of leaving it, as we feel the idea’s been done now. Although we do like the possibility of re-doing it with each page being done by a different illustrator and photographer.
Tom, what’s your favourite ever drawing, Rob, what’s your favourite ever photograph?
T: My favourite drawing at the moment is a woolwork picture done by a sailor in 1875 which has a funny Lion and Unicorn on it.
R: My favourite photo at the moment is a really grainy, black and white photo of someone in the rain, by Jack Seigel.

Now although I titled this post as a WTF I must admit I would try every single one of these flavors! You only live once right? So why not try:
Candied Bacon
![]()
Light brown sugar, cinnamon, and lots of bacon.
Viagra Ice Cream

Pretty self explanatory….very interesting. LOL
Cheese Ice Cream

From the Philippines. This sounds like it could be pretty cool, I LOVE cheese!
Curry Carrot Ice Cream

Now this ice cream I don’t think I would be a fan of but I would definitely try it just to brag about it.
Sweet Corn Ice Cream

I really enjoy sweet corn so I don’t know why it wouldn’t be good in ice cream…
There are recipes floating around on the internet to make a lot of these so maybe one day I’ll experiment.

Really cool re-edit of the classic trailer from Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs” set to the first TMNT movie. The things people are able to do these days will never cease to amaze me.

You may know him from The Hangover others may remember him from the first edit of Kanye West’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing video. Well, he decided to show off his sensitive side by doing a video for Anita Baker’s You Bring Me Joy. So incredibly random, yet so funny.

Lupe Fiasco announced that he will be dropping a new mixtape on Thanksgiving titled Enemy Of The State: A Love Story and this is going to be on it. Lu decided to bless a few verses on the Dirty Money song “Angels” just to give the record a new color. I can dig it, can’t wait to hear the mixtape.

In Sydney Australia there’s an event called The Rocks Aroma Festival that’s held every year for the past hundred years which celebrates The Rock’s importance in the international trade of both tea and coffee. This year they decided to celebrate by recreating the Mona Lisa by using 4,000 cups of coffee, with different amounts of cream in each cup to bring the image to life.

LOL: Fake MF DOOM Imposter in LA @ Grandstar
Filed Under LOL | Leave a Comment
I had heard about this event taking place at Grandstar that advertised an MF DOOM performance. Now me being the DOOM head I am, I happen to know the shows he’s gonna be at and the one’s he won’t be at but there were quite a few self proclaimed “DOOM heads” that were once again dooped by the masked villain. Here’s a video of the DOOMposter getting booed at Grandstar this past weekend.
What the camera didn’t capture however was the intense melee that went on immediately after people found out it was a fake. Glass bottles were thrown, obscenities were shouted and then fights broke out. People even traveled from Arizona to see the show…..for real, Arizona. To you people out there that were disappointed you didn’t get to see MF DOOM just realize that you saw a DOOM show, he just wasn’t there. Let me hip you to what an actual MF DOOM show will look like if he shows up….
