Well well, this is totally unexpected. The homie Dom Kennedy just dropped this Mixtape full of new material over some of his and our favorite beats. The mixtape is being presented by the LA Leakers, which consists of Djs Reflex, Just Incredible & Sourmilk of Power 106. Its a pretty good listen to close the summer out with. And being that Los Angeles is having some sort of heatwave right now, you’ll have plenty of chances to bump it in the car. Check it out!

While surfing on ted.com I came across this interesting video of Spencer Wells (I don’t know either, lol) speaking about the evolution of mankind into the diverse species that we are today. Any of you who remember Earth Science in school may know how continental shifts, climate, environment interactions, elevation and inter-species mixing all effect how the modern human being came to be. Its pretty interesting & sorta complex stuff. Unfortunately, since I didn’t jot down any bullet points I can’t regurgitate the number of methods scientists have created for answering the question of origin. But, nevertheless, what I can say is that Spencer Wells does it the most obvious way, DNA. Enjoy, its pretty lengthy.

What could possibly be the second most anticipated movie release of the year, Where the Wild Things Are, is being screened at 826 National locations nationwide! I’m sure this will be a super packed event! The ticket prices start at $75, and while that may seem pretty steep, the money is all going towards 826 National. 826 National is a non-profit organization, here’s a little background:
826 National is a nonprofit tutoring, writing, and publishing organization with locations in seven cities across the country. Our goal is to assist students ages six to eighteen with their writing skills, and to help teachers get their classes excited about writing. Our work is based on the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.
After the founding of 826 Valencia, the flagship center in San Francisco, educators around the U.S. joined in to pursue the same goals in their local communities. Now 826 Valencia also serves as the headquarters of 826 National, an umbrella organization that coordinates the adaptation of 826’s tutoring and mentorship model in other cities. Already, 826 has sister centers in New York, Los Angeles, Ann Arbor, Chicago, Seattle, and Boston. Through volunteer support, each of the seven 826 chapters provides drop-in tutoring, class field trips, writing workshops, and in-schools programs—all free of charge. 826 chapters are especially committed to supporting teachers, publishing student work, and offering services for English language learners.

I know many of you aren’t the biggest fans of Cassie’s music, but I also know that most of you generally enjoy looking at her, lol. This video takes you behind the scenes of Cassie’s photo shoot with womens streetwear brand DIMEPIECE. Based in New York City, their title pretty much sums up their target audience, although I’d go out on a limb to say there is more to it than that. While they show several shots, they interview Cassie about her upcoming album, producers she’s worked with and a few other questions. Also, check out the site for pictures from the shoot. Enjoy the eyecandy!

P.S. I’m actually looking forward to her new album.

TALKIES: James Cameron’s Avatar (Trailer)
Filed Under TALKIES | Leave a Comment
I am absolutely late posting the trailer to the MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIE of the year, but better late than never. For the hermits out there who live under a rock and have never heard of James Cameron, he directed Titanic. Titanic came out in 1997 and is still the highest grossing film in movie history. Also, apparently Mr. Cameron has been working on Avatar for over a decade. One of the main reasons Cameron’s just now releasing it is because he believed (and was right) that technology wasn’t advanced enough to properly pull off what you see above. In fact, Cameron had Weta Workshop invent technology just for the filming of this epic. This movie looks fucking awesome.

The homie Diz Gibran has dropped a new song just to let people know that the work never stops. In tow on production is his mainstay Moonshine, lacing an absolute neckbreaker. As many of you know, recently Diz dropped his mixtape “Soon You’ll Understand“, so for those that don’t have it, get it, for those that do, here’s one more to add to your playlist. Enjoy.

THE COAL MINE: Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon: End of Time Production Credits
Filed Under THE COAL MINE | Leave a Comment

Kid Cudi has released the production credits for his upcoming major label debut “Man on the Moon: End of Time”, and surprisingly, Kanye West has only contributed two tracks. In my personal opinion, this move by Kanye (or rather Cudi?), is going to make it very hard for critics to deny Cudi’s talent as a solo artist apart from Kanye West. Although, I’m not sure how many people even question Cudi’s talent. Its obviously there, its simply a question of whether you like him or not. If so, this post is for you. *points*
