TALKIES: Short Circuit (Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenburg)

Short Circuit is a 1986 classic about a robot named Number 5, an experimental military robot that is struck by lightning and develops consciousness. He escapes from the factory in fear of being reprogrammed and meets a woman named Stephanie played by Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club, WarGames) who helps him hide and tries to convince his creator Newton Crosby, played Steve Guttenburg (Police Academy), that he is alive. I loved this movie then, and I love it now. If you haven’t seen this movie then watching it with a 2008 mentality might not help win you over, but if you can remember a time when 580 megabites was a big deal then you might appreciate it.
